Joseph M. Spencer is a philosopher and an associate professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University. He’s the author of more than a hundred articles and book chapters, as well as of seven books (most recently A Word in Season: Isaiah’s Reception in the Book of Mormon, published in 2023 by the University of Illinois Press). Spencer has served as the editor of the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies and the chair of the Book of Mormon Academy, and he is now the president of the Book of Mormon Studies Association, the associate director of the Latter-day Saint Theology Seminar, and a co-editor of the book series Introductions to Mormon Thought.
